Over the last few months, I've been working on a project that's very close to my heart. It's been over a decade since I lived in Switzerland and as a way of sharing my appreciation for this country, I am launching a 2026 calendar collection of Switzerland🇨🇭 LINK IN BIO

Every fall, around 380,000 cows return from the high Alpine meadows where they've spent the entire summer. Désalpe (or Alpabzug in German) celebrates this homecoming journey.

After over a decade in Switzerland, I finally went to my first one in Charmey village in the Gruyère region 🤗 The cows were so beautifully decorated with their cowbells and flower crowns 🐮 🌺

What was most touching was seeing villagers offering wine and juice to the herders along the route—such a beautiful display of community appreciation for their hard work and welcoming them back 🥹

Tips if you want to go next year :

🐄 Arrive at least 1 hour before the start of the event (roads close for the parade)
🐄 Parking is available = 20chf/day
🐄 If coming by public transportation, there are shuttle buses from train stations so check websites
🐄 Highly recommend to bring your own lunch (food lines are crazy!)
🐄 If coming by car, roads are closed and traffic is very limited until the procession is over....so plan accordingly
🐄 Dress warmly
🐄 Advised to wear hiking shoes, you will potentially be stepping over a lot of dirt and 💩

✨📣 Announcement:  I've created a 2026 calendar featuring stunning Swiss moments like this! Perfect for planning your Swiss adventures or bringing Alpine charm to your space. Available now in my Etsy shop—link in bio 📅

Fall in Geneva 🍂😍 Swipe ➡️ to see why autumn is th Fall in Geneva 🍂😍 Swipe ➡️ to see why autumn is the most underrated season to visit here!

When most people think Switzerland, they picture ski resorts or summer mountain hikes. But autumn here is absolutely stunning and way less crowded. Even in Geneva, which some say isn't "as picturesque as other parts of Switzerland" (totally disagree but ok 😮‍💨), the fall colors are incredible.

These photos are from different spots around the Geneva region over the past few years, and honestly, every single autumn delivers.

Save this for your Geneva travel plans!
Some fun things to do around Geneva in autumn:
🍎 Go to an apple farm and pick apples or buy them by the kilo
🍎 Visit Autumnale (Geneva's huge autumn salon)
🍎 Attend a Vendanges (Grape Harvest Festival)—though many have already passed for this year
🍎 Cooler days means it's time to bust out your raclette machines and fondue pots! 🫕

My favorite fall foliage spots:
🍂 Explore Bois de la Bâtie in Jonction
🍂Walk along the lake from Eaux-Vives to Cologny
🍂 Check out the vineyards in the Côte area around Glands, Luins, and Begnins
🍂 Stroll around the lake in Hermance—this is my favorite and a hidden gem 😉

Nevertheless this is my love letter of the time I was back home in SF in summer🫶🏻 Every time I'm home I love taking public transportation and venturing out to places because the city is way too beautiful! I'm now back in gloomy Geneva *le sigh*

PS I have a down jacket in July because it's COLD in summer in SF. This is also why I changed my shirt to go out to keep warm! 😅

Chamonix is iconic for winter sports, but personally I think it's better in summer. Trail walks, hikes, water sports, paragliding - activities are endless. Plus the city center has all the restaurants, pubs, souvenir shops, and sports equipment stores. Also they have 👏 such 👏 good 👏 microbreweries🍺

The best part is that it's actually cool(er) up here. It's a short drive from Geneva (90 min by car or bus) so looking forward to coming here regularly this summer 🌞

I left my heart in San Francisco 😌 Its always good I left my heart in San Francisco 😌 Its always good to be home .This time I brought my husband for the first time so it was nice to see the City through tourist eyes.

As a native, my personal go tos/must dos for visitors are:
⭐Ferry Building
⭐Have a picnic at Mission Dolores Park
⭐Chinatown
⭐Grab pizza and a drink at North Beach
⭐Walking up the steep hills
⭐Steak & cocktails at House of Prime Rib (reserve 3-6 months ahead)
⭐Crissy Fields
⭐Clam chowder bowl at Boudines
⭐Ride a Cable Car
⭐Lombard Street (but driving through it could be a nightmare)
⭐Ride Waymo (driverless taxis)

Places/things I don't think are overhyped 🙅🏻‍♀️
🔸Alcatraz (surprisingly locals rarely go there, if ever)
🔸Painted Ladies (unless you're a Full House fan)
🔸Walk across Golden Gate Bridge (super windy and it's long. Rent a bike instead)
🔸SF Zoo
🔸Eating at Fisherman's wharf (overpriced)
🔸Ghirardelli square (not much to do in my opinion)
🔸Driving in downtown/tourist areas (Driving and parking nightmare. Take a bus/train/Uber/Waymo)

Do you have any favorites I missed? Add them in the comments 😉 Can't already wait to be back in summer

Not as gorgeous as Japan, but Switzerland does hav Not as gorgeous as Japan, but Switzerland does have it's share of cherry blossom-ish trees ☺️🌸Btw did you know in Switzerland there's a saying to NOT put away your coats until May?

This is because the spring goddess of Switzerland is a total drama queen and on some days she will be in a lovely mood to give us t-shirt weather and on other days, she has a meltdown and decides make it rain and hail (literally)😂 This will go on until May when the weather stabilizes and summer comes along. So go out and enjoy spring but don't forget don't store away your coats just yet!
